Call for Submissions: The Network of Young Scholars and Practitioners’ Events Leading up to ILA 150
The ILA will be celebrating its 150 year anniversary in 2023 and the French Branch is organizing the conference (hybrid event) as well as projects leading up to it. The theme of the project is “Building Tomorrow.” It is worth signing up for their newsletter for ongoing information about the project.
The Network of Young Scholars and Practitioners within the South African Branch of the International Law Association (SABILA Network) is facilitating a global network of young scholars and practitioners to participate in projects leading up to the conference in 2023.
This is a call for ILA members that are 35 years of age and under and in the first five years of practice, or a student (if you do not fall into any of these categories but still see yourself as a young scholar or practitioner, please reach out anyway) to get involved in the 150 years Build Tomorrow Project in the following ways.
Option 1: Panelist for Webinars
There are a series of thematic white papers that are currently being worked on, the reports of which will be discussed in a series of webinars starting in January 2023. The panelists of the webinars will be individuals with expertise in the thematic fields and were not part of the creation of the white paper reports. You can read more about the themes for the white papers here.
If you are interested in being a panelist for a webinar please email [email protected] with the following information:
- Name and surname:
- ILA Branch:
- Affiliation (University, organisation, company, independent etc.):
- The white paper you are interested in:
- A one page C.V. including a short paragraph on why you are suited to discuss the thematic issue.
- Deadline: 30 January 2022
Option 2: The future of the ILA paper
As part of the 150-year anniversary celebration, the ILA will publish a book on the history of the association and we have the opportunity to contribute a chapter on the future of the ILA. In the event that we cannot get a publishable chapter together by June 2022, we will still have the opportunity to deliver a paper at the opening ceremony of the 2023 event.
If you are interested in being part of this project please email [email protected] with the following information:
- Name and surname:
- ILA Branch:
- Affiliation (University, organisation, company, independent etc.):
- How you meet the requirements of being a young scholar or practitioner (35 years of age and under and in the first five years of practice, or a student, other):
- A short paragraph on what role you believe younger members can play in the future of the ILA.
- Please reach out as soon as possible.
You can express interest in both options simultaneously. Please reach out to Clea Strydom ([email protected]) if you have any further questions. If you have or are interested in creating a Network of young members within your own Branch, please reach out to the SABILA Network for collaboration.
