The thirty-fourth (and current) President of the American Branch is Michael P. Scharf, re-elected for a two-year term in October 2024.

The American Branch uses a unique troika approach to leadership. In this troika approach, the three individuals who occupy the positions of past president, current president, and president-elect all serve as leaders of the Branch contemporaneously.

The Branch operates under the direction of an Executive Committee. The Chair of the Executive Committee is Leila Nadya Sadat. The Vice-Presidents are William Aceves, Christina M. Cerna, Chiara Giorgetti, David P. Stewart, Jennifer Trahan, and Peter K. Yu. The Treasurer is Houston Putnam Lowry. M. Imad Khan is the Branch’s Secretary and Mortimer Sellers and Milena Sterio are the Co-Directors of Studies. Julia Liston is the Chief Operating Officer and Freya Doughty-Wagner is the Chief Content Officer.

The Branch currently has six Student Ambassadors who assist with International Law Weekend and other events, as well as blogging and proofreading publications. The current Student Ambassadors are Helen Bamiro, Fordham University School of Law; Mina Nur Basmaci, Washington University in St. Louis School of Law; Madison Graham, University of Georgia Law; Anne Harper, Cardozo Law; Cris Kelman, University of Denver Sturm College of Law; and Paulina Macías Ortega, Georgetown Law Center.
