Introducing Julia Liston: ABILA’s New Chief Operating Officer
The American Branch is pleased to introduce its new Chief Operating Officer: Julia Liston. Julia is an accomplished professional with a rich background in international law, education, and leadership. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Case Western Reserve University School of Law (CWRU), where she instructs international master’s level students in the schools’ LLM program. She was voted 2023 LLM Teacher of the Year by her students.
Prior to teaching, Julia worked at the United States Department of Justice where she served as the Assistant General Counsel at Interpol Washington and spent time detailed to the DOJ’s Office of International Affairs. Additionally, she worked as an Associate Attorney at a law firm in Cleveland, Ohio. Julia earned her law degree at CWRU and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Case Western Journal of International Law and graduated from the University of Rochester with her Bachelor’s degree.
Julia is excited to contribute to ABILA’s continued growth and success.
Introducing Freya Doughty-Wagner, ABILA’s Inaugural Chief Content Officer
The American Branch is delighted to introduce Freya Doughty-Wagner as its new Chief Content Officer. This newly created position replaced that of the Media Officer, held by Kristi Ueda since 2022. We thank Kristi for all of her work over the years.

Freya Doughty-Wagner is a final year JSD Candidate at Washington University in St. Louis, focusing on the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment for children and youth. She is also the website and social media manager for the Global Network for Human Rights and the Environment and a Seasonal Lecturer at UWE Bristol Law School. Her international legal interests include international climate change law and climate litigation, international human rights law, and law of the European Union. Freya earned her LLM in Public International Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
